Throughout its history, Amakhosi has been instrumental in nurturing talent and producing award-nominated plays such as The Madalas and The Song of a Woman. The centre has also been involved in community development projects, including the Theatre for Community Action (TCA) program, which uses drama to address social issues like HIV/AIDS awareness .​
